People 'excellence' or people 'exploitation'

I recently have completed an assignment for a so called 'services' organization and am surprised to know that over 80% of the employees who leave the organization are exploited in the name of processes, even to the extent of asking them to pay back salary the organization has paid to them while working for them (including, in the cases where an employee is asked to resign forcefully or resigns at his own will because of abuse at work) and then later on demanded a notice salary citing the agreement/contract which the employee generally signs in good faith while joining the organization. I have a case of an employee who had joined the organization and soon realized that he was at a wrong place as within 10 days he was commented for 'no results coming' out through his little efforts.  He resigned as soon as he received salary of the period he worked (though, the organization releases salary after 15th of the next month)- the employee was not only threatened over phone...

E-commerce in India: Where are we headed?

As per a study by ET, Amazon offers about 5-15% of the commission, which is the highest   for every transaction routed to their website.   The affiliate sites are routing traffic to the main website ( are sites like coupondunia ,   Timesdeal, Mydala, Couponraja, Cashkaro etc). The apparel segment attracts about 15% of commission while electronic segment attracts about 5% as commission. Unlike others, Amazon prefers to work directly with these affiliates while others would prefer to work with mediators (or digital agencies) who in turn would deal with all such affiliates who divert traffic to respective site for monetization.    This is at a time, when there is huge mad rush to acquire customers, even if it is showing losses in the books – Flipkart (consolidated) has booked losses worth over 700 crores   (till 2014, March) followed by Amazon with about 325 crores (Oct 13 to March 14) . This year too, they would book huge losses in account of mass ...

Good days are coming..

PS - This title has nothing to do with BJP’s   Achhe Din campaign though ;)  I was reading articles from few of my social connections and bloggers, writers, experts etc etc- one writing on abundance with over 21 'to do's with appending list of activities one should follow, some with words which we read in the synonyms of the dictionary (though I had to Google their meaning... unfortunately could not digest these words and thought of writing my own article and sharing the real meaning of abundance, contentedness and real meaning of success. I would not share a 'to do' list which I   could never practice myself…but a one liner which would change the perspective of your life completely. We come from all walks of the society, with different educational & social backgrounds. Most of the times, for the sake of showing off people around you or while pretending to be happy- we loose the  real person we live with ( your own conscience and the ‘real’ yourse...

Bingo..you are a 'Digital Native' and drones are your friend!

A few years back when I saw a presentation of a social media giant with title   ‘Is Social media a Fad’? and today when I recollect the contents and statements which were   like “news would find you- you would no longer look for the news”. News really finds you today, wherever you are- on your mobile or on internet. According to a research by SimpleReach about 1.3 billion people login through Facebook and over 20% of the traffic goes to the news websites through Facebook alone. The favorite mobile application you have just downloaded through play store or the product you just brought through an e-commerce site, would surely help the marketers to capture your information in various forms to build the direct connect. You also allow the app without any choice that they can manage your messages, locations, contacts, and photos etc without any reticence and consideration on your privacy.   Mind you tech geeks are writing algorithms to monitor your preference, track...

Why is ‘Open Source’ a big bet for Techpreneurs?

Wipro   CEO TK Kurian recently announced that his company would be making significant investments in building advisory capability and creation of IP to gain industry leadership in the Open Source space. Lets revisit where this announcement roots from? According to a research by 2020 over 50 billion intelligent devices will connect and exchange information in various forms.   Open source offers substantial cost savings as compared with a legacy based proprietary application, which according to me;  buyers sees as a burden while organizations want to optimize the overall cost or look at the TCO in this case.  Pure solution providers like IBM, Wipro, Infosys, HCL etc work on customized business applications for clients, typically mid to large organizations, from banks to telecom to hospitality to retail to services. Business process of each of their client is not the same. So as a solution provider; open source offers agility in application development proce...
