Employment outlook -2020 & beyond

Image
Since past few years,  Indian economy has witnessed many challenges and is currently reeling through  slowdown because of changes in the business ecosystem, government policies & frameworks (which should have worked as 'enabler')  introduction of a simplified tax regime called GST (which has added to it further, negatively). Much of this is directly impacting the overall economy, declining employment rate, high cost of education, healthcare etc are the major concerns at the root of economy. Manufacturing, Retail, Telecom, BFSI, Services are all a big hit in account of socio-economic factors,  lower consumption patterns, lower export besides many stimulus'es driving investments, skills development, ease of doing business etc devised by the current government. The government data showing growth can be debated further as it picks selective  period in which the growth is shown and compared with periods (which are meant to show growth; majorly around festi...

How to bring in economic reforms in a politicized economy.

Image
Many of us became economists after the #demonetization move and thought of trying to put up my economic thoughts to the ones, who, for sheer personal or business interest, have been negating the long term impact of such a game changing move, which has economic reform at the root. Which to me, would be a killing career move for a political leader like Modi; that too at a time when the economy was growing;  and had a potential risk of stalling a running vehicle called India. At a time when political and economic stakes are high, even a naive mind like me would not even think about that, leave apart taking that decision to implement. 35 days impact on Indian economy: RBI says about 4.6 lakh rupees worth of new currency notes issued so far. Over 12 lakh rupees worth of old currency notes deposited to various banks Inflation has gone to the lowest level i.e.  3.6% in November 2016  Inflation CPI, 2016 data There is a lot of air around real estate, services secto...

An open letter to Mr. Narender Modi- Prime Minister of India

Dear Modi ji, Can you assure me that the money I am saving today for my future is 'safe' and I can withdraw when in 'need' ? Will you change the 'constitution' which is the amended version of British ruled India which had 'queen' at the center? The 'democracy' and 'People' should be at the center, not the ruler or governing party. The poor fellow taxpayer of India spends about 100000 millions INR every year for the machinery that you run directly. Will you repay the poor Indian this back? you have total budget of 4.5 lakh crores. Now you have collected 5.5 lakh crores, you have brought in the money- what next? Will you mind to work on the parallel economy which supports 70 percent of India? Your govt only employs approx 13 percent of India, which is again funded by these poor Indians. Will you bother the poor Indian further, who is looking for the 2.5 lakh for his/her son/daughter's wedding. you want this marria...

A Spider without a Web

Image
An interesting story, wish I could have had named the real characters but then thought of making an attempt to use some common 'creatures'  my followers can relate to; and come out with some learning associated with it. Here we go... This is the story of a 'Spider' who wanted to grab flies without weaving a web. The Spider had woven a small web himself for surviving few years back but then realized that he can have a big web and become a 'Big Spider' to rule the spiders' world and have more flies and catches that can be served to him through servants. But, the problem was who would build it for him? The spiders were not ready to do the job as they were self sufficient and happy onto their webs. Then, was there was a grasshopper- who had come to meet the Spider and upon discussions advised him to form a big web so that he can pick more &; more flies to grow bigger and bigger. And, since spiders were not available for the job, he suggested 'Hone...

People 'excellence' or people 'exploitation'

I recently have completed an assignment for a so called 'services' organization and am surprised to know that over 80% of the employees who leave the organization are exploited in the name of processes, even to the extent of asking them to pay back salary the organization has paid to them while working for them (including, in the cases where an employee is asked to resign forcefully or resigns at his own will because of abuse at work) and then later on demanded a notice salary citing the agreement/contract which the employee generally signs in good faith while joining the organization. I have a case of an employee who had joined the organization and soon realized that he was at a wrong place as within 10 days he was commented for 'no results coming' out through his little efforts.  He resigned as soon as he received salary of the period he worked (though, the organization releases salary after 15th of the next month)- the employee was not only threatened over phone...

E-commerce in India: Where are we headed?

As per a study by ET, Amazon offers about 5-15% of the commission, which is the highest   for every transaction routed to their website.   The affiliate sites are routing traffic to the main website ( are sites like coupondunia ,   Timesdeal, Mydala, Couponraja, Cashkaro etc). The apparel segment attracts about 15% of commission while electronic segment attracts about 5% as commission. Unlike others, Amazon prefers to work directly with these affiliates while others would prefer to work with mediators (or digital agencies) who in turn would deal with all such affiliates who divert traffic to respective site for monetization.    This is at a time, when there is huge mad rush to acquire customers, even if it is showing losses in the books – Flipkart (consolidated) has booked losses worth over 700 crores   (till 2014, March) followed by Amazon with about 325 crores (Oct 13 to March 14) . This year too, they would book huge losses in account of mass ...

Good days are coming..

PS - This title has nothing to do with BJP’s   Achhe Din campaign though ;)  I was reading articles from few of my social connections and bloggers, writers, experts etc etc- one writing on abundance with over 21 'to do's with appending list of activities one should follow, some with words which we read in the synonyms of the dictionary (though I had to Google their meaning... unfortunately could not digest these words and thought of writing my own article and sharing the real meaning of abundance, contentedness and real meaning of success. I would not share a 'to do' list which I   could never practice myself…but a one liner which would change the perspective of your life completely. We come from all walks of the society, with different educational & social backgrounds. Most of the times, for the sake of showing off people around you or while pretending to be happy- we loose the  real person we live with ( your own conscience and the ‘real’ yourse...
