A call from Arvind Kejriwal

Today afternoon, I received a call from Arvind Kejriwal and later realized that it was not him though, but his pre-recorded voice...I am amazed to see technology adoption in such campaigns (though my number is registered on DND but who cares)  but  I was well connected and convinced to some extent with whatever he wanted to communicate boldly -  from 'how a government officer have left his IRS job, where he could have had minted money in millions', to 'he was fasting for 15 days' and even making a commitment to 'cancel the ticket of the candidate who is found to be hiding any criminal act in the past or future'.

That is precisely marketing..reaching out to the target customer (voter, in this case) and that too with a strong or bold message. I see him coming closer to winning Delhi election 2014 with 70 candidates in AAP and the values AAP is driving- 'commitment' and 'connect' with the common man. Tireless campaigns with the same commitment on 'voluntary' funds generated from public  (not the money earned through bribes or illegal means).

On the other side, Narender Modi exhibiting the same level of commitment through campaigns across the country. Some of them bold  like "Statue of Unity" - in memory of Saradar Patel, which would be through contribution of unused iron stuff from the farmers,  and would be taller than the 'Statue of Liberty'. All boldness, strong commitment and total connect with the common man (may be, nothing on ground but still the Aam Aadmi believes him) whereas the 'Prince' is rooting controversies out of his uncooked speeches (which were primarily meant to gather public sympathy through 'EC' emotional connect,  like 'assassination' and controversial comments like 'muslim boys joining ISI' ) are turning into public ire and becoming negative marketing tools for  RaGa team.

I see the marketing playing a bit & differentiating role here, either big or small budgets,  but with high impact and an innovative way as the 'common man' or Aam Aadmi is used to the traditional election Tantrums and this time would go with something more  innovative and enticing, if not substantial or driving basic values or social reforms.
